Days after teasing a new "i" product, Xiaomi on Tuesday launched the Mi Power Bank 2i lineup as its very first "Made in India" power banks in the country.

Chinese company Xiaomi doesn't want to be considered as an outsider in India. The 10000mAh Mi Power Bank 2i is priced at Rs. 799, while the 20000mAh Mi Power Bank 2i comes with a price tag of Rs. 1,499.

The company already has two smartphone manufacturing plants in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh where more than 95 percent of its smartphones (sold in India) are assembled locally. They have single-port Quick Charge 3.0 support, high-density lithium polymer batteries inside dual (5.1V/ 3.6A) USB output feature, which means users can charge two devices simultaneously or extend your power to others in need.

This manufacturing unit of Hipad Technology is a dedicated Power Bank facility for Xiaomi and is spread across 2.3 lakh square feet. Both the power banks will be initially available in Mi.com, Mi Home stores starting November 23.

With the help of the 20000mAh Mi Power Bank 2i, it is possible to charge smartphones, tablets, and laptops using the integrated dual USB output.

The company has launched two power banks made in India - Mi Power Bank 2i with 20,000 mAh and 10,000 mAh capacity. The starting production capacity for the facility is about 7 Power Banks a minute during its operational hours. Boasting up to 85 percent conversion rate, it can charge a standard smartphone multiple times. Contrarily, the 20000mAh Mi Power Bank 2i comes in a polycarbonate case and includes Quick Charge 3.0 technology for a faster charging experience.

According to research firm IDC, Chinese handset maker Xiaomi caught up with industry leader Samsung to share the top spot in India's smartphone market for the September quarter with each player accounting for 23.5 per cent share. And now, Xiaomi has eyed the power bank segment.

The 10000mAh model features elegant double anodized aluminum design. It comes in 10,000mAh and 20,000mAh capacities. He also pointed out that fake versions of the original Mi Power Bank models are surpassing traditional competitors in the country and are so far accounted for the second position in the overall power bank space.
