Stalker sets woman on fire in Chennai

In a shocking incident, a woman was allegedly burnt alive by a classmate who had been stalking her for a month. As per the reports, her mother and sister have also got injured.

Induja's mother Renuka and younger sister Nivedita also suffered burn injures while trying to save her.

According to the Newspaper, . Renuka and Nivedha were later taken to the Kilpauk Medical College (KMC) Hospital.

The accused who escaped from the scene after receiving a few blows was reportedly picked up police on Tuesday. According to police the detained was pursuing the deceased, Induja, to accept his friendship for almost a month.

The incident occurred on Monday night in South Chennai's Velachery. While Induja's family says she had rebuffed him, the accused claims that he was in a relationship with her and they had plans to marry.

According to the police, the incident took place in Adambakkam area of Chennai on Monday at around 8.45 pm, reported CNN-News18. However, when the three women came out, splashed petrol on Induja and used a lighter to set her fire. He demanded to speak to her, but the family refused to let him in.

Neighbours, hearing cries, rushed to help the family and rushed them to hospital.

It has reported that Ashok in love with Induja an engineering graduate working in a company for the last few months.
