Last week, Walmart published a news release about its overall holiday season strategy and tactics, which includes holding thousands of Black Friday 2017 kick off parties in its location stores.

Whilst historically Black Friday has involved lengthy queues and chaotic scenes at retail stores, the transition to online deals has eased the pressure on brick and mortar sales. On Cyber Monday, customers will find more than 30 Deals of the Day and thousands of Lightning Deals across more than 30 categories. Some now appear to be out of stock, but the retailer could add more stock by Monday.

Shoppers got to one branch of Tesco in Stockport early to make the most of deals on TVs and queued in an orderly fashion. Walmart, Amazon and Target guaranteeing low prices and other discount retailers tumbling over themselves to offer faster shipping and unique items. That seems to be the trend among many retailers.

Secondly, Black Friday is also part of the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday weekend, therefore, people are off work to do nothing but shop, while for Canadians it's just another Friday.

Tuesday will bring 40% bath and bedding products, cosmetics are on sale Wednesday, Thursday's deal is 30% family outerwear and electronics will be on sale on Friday.

The FCA found no significant change to either arranged or unarranged overdraft use during Black Friday weekend or any evidence to suggest that shoppers were using their overdrafts to fund Black Friday weekend purchases.

A survey by consumer group Which? has already indicated that more than half of deals previous year were the same price or cheaper months either side of the event and has urged consumers to research prices thoroughly before committing to a purchase.

For those with deeper pockets, Walmart is also selling a Samsung 65-inch Class 4K Smart LED TV at a discounted price of $1,597 instead of the regular $3,299, allowing for big savings of $1,701.01.

Like Black Friday, Cyber Monday is an excuse for retailers to cut their prices. Target is also offering the PS4 VR Gran Turismo Sport Bundle for $300, a discount of $100.
