Padmavati: What can Sanjay Leela Bhansali do for a no-protest release?

Ranveer Singh in LA

Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor's Padmavati has been facing a lot of opposition from various communal groups for its release.

The film is scheduled to release on December 1 and stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in the lead.

It promises to offer audiences a soulful melody that strongly reflects loyalty and an unbreakable bond of love. However, Kapoor does as good a job, if not better, at playing the mesmerised lover, which comes through in this song. Apart from the music, the sets, costumes and the props that have been used in this song deserve much applause.

During a session at Sahitya Aaj Tak, Akhtar was asked about the controversy surrounding the movie, and the lyricist said, "I was listening to a history professor on TV who said that there is a difference of 200-250 years between Khilji's rule and the writing of "Padmavat". It can be easily said that the fans will not be disappointed with Sanjay Leela Bhansali as this is exactly the spectacle which is expected from the ace director. His contribution to this film is irreplaceable and unbelievable. To bring about such emotions is not easy and Shahid does it very well. "I think we should trust and believe him and give this film all the love", Johar said. I think it is the function of the fact that this one is completely different from any of my previous roles.

Secondly, had Bhansali shown his film, was there any guarantee that the film would have been allowed to be exhibited in theatres? Many have been demanding the film to be banned as well. Although Bhansali has repeatedly assured that the movie does not have any scene that would hurt the sentiments of any community, the outrage against the film has not died down.
