Mazda6 2.5 turbo confirmed, debuts at LA show

New Mazda6 Previewed Ahead Of Los Angeles Debut

Following the car's debut at 10:30am (PST) on November 29 at the Los Angeles auto show, the new model is set to go on sale in Australia during the first half of 2018.

Under the hood, two four-cylinder SkyActiv engines will be available for the 2018 Mazda6.

"The development team's goal for this round of updates, the third since the model was fully redesigned in 2012, was to enhance the daily lives of people who love cars, incorporating premium details and new engineering concepts and technologies based on Mazda's human-centered design philosophy", Mazda said in a statement. Created to improve fuel efficiency without compromising the 6's base performance, this SKYACTIV-G engine will also come with the 2018 CX-5 crossover, which makes its North American debut in LA. Motor line Mazda 6 next generation presented a 2.5-liter "aspirated" SkyActive-G. We'll check back with more information then. Mazda says the new unit produces torque on par with a 4.0-liter V8, offering "an effortless performance feel that is equal parts composure and excitement". The power plant will be equipped with a disconnection system of a pair of cylinders that will contribute to reduced fuel consumption during light load.

2018 Mazda6

Beyond that, an array of advanced safety features and amenities from i-ActiveSense will be available on the 2018 Mazda6.

Mazda has not given too much away as to the new 6's design, but from what we can see of in the photos released thus far, most of the exterior elements remain the same with tweaks to the grille, lower intake, and possibly the side paneling.

Safety also gains a tweak to make it more user-friendly in hevy traffic, with the Mazda 6's active cruise control adding a function that allows it to come to a complete stop behind the auto in front, and take off again when the vehicle in front moves away.
