Mariah Carey cancels Sands Bethlehem Event Center show Sunday; illness blamed

The singer took to social media to explain that she's contracted an upper respiratory infection in the wake of a full-blown flu last week. The music sensation announced on Tuesday, Nov. 15 via Twitter that she has sadly canceled her first few Christmas tour shows due to a respiratory infection.

According to Billboard, her "All I Want for Christmas Is You" holiday tour was to start Friday in Ontario, Canada, but her website now lists the start date as Monday, Nov. 27, at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. Until then, unfortunately, I have to cancel the first several shows of my upcoming Christmas tour.

Billboard reports Carey will instead begin her tour november 27 at the Beacon Theatre in New York City and wrap it up December 22 in Las Vegas. She lends her voice and new music to two animated movies coming out this month, "The Star" and "All I Want for Christmas Is You".

As for now, these shows haven't been rescheduled; therefore, the fans will get their tickets refunded.

Despite the sad news, Carey's adoring fans luckily sent nothing but love and understanding to their favorite diva. "Rest up & take great care of yourself".
