Kansas City Chiefs Sign Veteran Cornerback Darrelle Revis

Kansas City must have found something left in Revis to bring him off his couch 11 weeks into the National Football League season.

Andy Reid went on to point out Revis is familiar with Kansas City DC Bob Sutton, who held the same position in NY while the defensive back was there.

Many fans began the countdown to Canton for cornerback Darrelle Revis after he failed to sign with a team entering the 2017 season.

Bob Sutton told me years ago he lifted a lot from Rex Ryan's scheme to build his own with the Chiefs. The Chiefs have lost four of their last five games after looking like the best team in the AFC, and needed a fresh look on defense.

"Darrelle is a proven player in this league and we are excited to add him to our secondary", Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said in a statement.

Already an intriguing signing by Kansas City, things will get even more interesting two Sundays from now when the Jets host the Chiefs.

"We're excited to add Darrelle to the roster", coach Andy Reid added. He then played one year each for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots, with whom he won a Super Bowl, before returning to the Jets in 2015.

Revis won't have to wait long to face his old team, with the Chiefs traveling to the Jets for a 1 p.m. ET game on December 3. His career numbers include 485 tackles (401 solo), 2.0 sacks, 137 passes defensed, 29 interceptions, six forced fumbles and 12 fumble recoveries.

Revis is a seven-time Pro Bowler and has earned First Team All-Pro honors four times.
