IMac Pro to possibly include always-on 'Hey Siri'

iMac Pro to feature A10 Fusion coprocessor, possibly for always-on 'Hey Siri'

To recall, the iMac Pro is set to go on sale in December. This allows you to talk to Siri and ask it questions and more using voice commands without having to press any buttons at the start.

Apple now ships a custom ARM chip called the "T1" in its latest MacBook Pro models that feature Touch ID and the Touch Bar. The developer says that it appears that the A10 Fusion chips is always on and working, even when the iMac is turned off.

If the reports are correct, it looks as though the ARM co-processor takes over the boot process, security, and the FaceTime camera.

Apple's been working hard on its future iMac Pro, which is expected to have an even greater impact than the Touch Bar featured on the company's most recent model. After originally introducing Siri to the Mac past year with macOS Sierra, Apple is readying "Hey Siri" activation much like what's on your iPhone for the Mac, starting with the iMac Pro.

This should mean that the new iMac Pro will come with the same Hey Siri feature as Apple's iPhones and iPads. We know that the iMac Pro is real as Apple recently showed them off at hands-on events. And the iMac Pro may be a good testbed for this functionality. This would be the first time that a Mac has used an A-series chip designed by Apple.
