How OnePlus 5T compares with rivals

OnePlus 5T vs iPhone X: At less than half the price, would you pick OnePlus' new flagship?

The OnePlus 5T, as many of you probably already know, dropped yesterday during an event in NY.

This was already confirmed in a long post on the OnePlus forums before the OnePlus 5T launch event where the company explained its fondness for the 3.5mm jack, for audio quality and user choice reasons.

However, there are some updates that won't go unnoticed such as the larger display that minimises the bezels and the repositioned fingerprint sensor which now rests on the back panel.

What will it cost? .

Carl Pei admitted that the removal of NFC and the choice to go with the Snapdragon 810 processor were the biggest factors responsible for the failure of the OnePlus 2.

For the RAM, OnePlus again has the 2 famous variants: The 6GB-64GB model and the 8GB-128GB model (RAM-Internal Memory).

The OnePlus 5T in both the 64 GB and 128 GB (Midnight Black version) storage options will be available on the website in the United States and in Europe on November 21st starting from Dollars 499 / Euro 499 / GBP 449. Amazon Prime members also have a chance to buy the smartphone through an Early Access sale that will be held on Amazon India from 4:30 PM on the same day. You can check the availability of the OnePlus 5T here.

The OnePlus 5T features a 6.01-inch display with a Full HD (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution, 18:9 aspect ratio and 80.5% screen to body ratio. The display is further protected by 2.4D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. OnePlus 5T might have a bigger display, but the "T" addition means this is still a mid-cycle upgrade. The physical home and navigation keys are now missing. The smartphone also has a front mounted fingerprint sensor which unlocks it in 0.2 seconds. Should you upgrade to the OnePlus 5T if you are rocking a OnePlus 5? According to International Data Corporation's (IDC) latest Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker 2017 Q3, OnePlus captured 12 percent share of the premium smartphone shipments in India during the first quarter and the share has more than doubled to 28 percent in just two quarters.

OnePlus claims it'll work if you're wearing a scarf or pulling a amusing face, and unlocks the phone in 0.4 seconds. Apart from this, rest of the specifications largely remains similar to the original OnePlus 5. You'll no longer enjoy the zoom effects like the 5, rather, the camera has now been optimized for low-light conditions thanks to an aperture of f/1.7. Secondly, the company has done away with a telephoto lens in the OnePlus 5T and instead bumped up the secondary camera with 20-megapixel sensor along with aperture f/1.7, Sony IMX376K sensor, 1.0-micron pixel size and focal length of 27.22mm.

The OnePlus 5T also has improved EIS (electronic image stabilization), providing smoother, cleaner video with less camera shake. Owners of the OnePlus 3T enrolled in the beta program should look for Open Beta 18, while OnePlus 3 beta testers will receive Open Beta 27.

The phone, like its predecessors, comes with "Dash Charge" technology.

The OnePlus 5T will run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat under the company's proprietary Oxygen OS.

At a $499 starting price the OnePlus 5T might just land up in the Indian market at the same price as the OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5 might also get a price cut.
