Hilarious play is a microcosm of Florida's disastrous season

South Carolina's A.J. Turner gained 136 yards on 22 carries as the Gamecocks rushed for a season-high 220 yards in a 28-20 victory, handing Florida its fifth straight loss Saturday in Columbia, S.C. Quarterback Jake Bentley threw a rather bad pass out of the end zone to be intercepted by a wide open CJ Henderson. Later in the first quarter, wide receiver Freddie Swain delivered a ideal block to give Kadarius Toney 23 yards of open space.

But Florida still had one last chance before defensive back Jamyest Williams' interception on a tipped pass near midfield with just over a minute to go. The Gators (3-6, 3-5) will finish with a losing SEC record for only the third time since 1992.

Florida played without about 25 percent of its scholarship players because of injuries or suspensions.

SC played strong on both sides of the ball against the Gators. Freshman Feleipe Franks went 10 of 25 for 174 yards.

On the next play, when Zaire came back on the field, the Gators ran a designed quarterback run. Henderson ran the ball back for what looked like it would be a pick-six. and then fumbled the ball into the end zone, which was recovered by SC.
