Fantastic Beasts 2: First look at Jude Law as Dumbledore, title revealed

Fantastic Beasts 2 release date

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them 2 now has the official moniker: Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. He is a part of the a large cast photo, including several old and new characters from the Fantastic Beasts franchise.

Warner Bros. revealed the Harry Potter prequel sequel (that's going to get confusing) title as Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, along with the first story details.

Although it is uncertain who the wands belong to, many fans have speculated it is a hint to the dual between Albus Dumbledore, who will be played by Jude Law, and Gellert Grindelwald, with Johnny Depp reprising the role.

The film hits theaters one year from today!

"There are also some surprising nods to the "Harry Potter" stories that will delight fans of the books and film series".

Ezra Miller returns as disturbed child Credence Barebone, Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski and Carmen Ejogo as Seraphina Picquery. In case you're unfamiliar with the oddly named dark wizard, he is Albus Dumbledore's mortal enemy - and their decades-long battle is one of the wizarding world's most epic feuds. Meanwhile, seated together in the middle of the photo are Callum Turner as Thesus Scamander, Newt's brother, and Zoƫ Kravitz as Leta Lestrange - Newt's former schoolmate and love interest, who appears to be romantically involved with Thesus now (assuming this photo is an accurate indicator).

The official synopsis of the film reads: "At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Redmayne)". However, as he promised he would, Grindelwald has made a dramatic escape and has been gathering more followers to his cause-elevating wizards above all non-magical beings.

Arriving Nov. 16, 2018, the sequel is directed by David Yates, with Rowling, David Heyman, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram producing. "The adventure reunites Newt with Tina, Queenie and Jacob, but his mission will also test their loyalties as they face new perils in an increasingly risky and divided wizarding world".
