The rehabilitation of former Red, Fernando Torres-a long process that only began when he finally left Chelsea for Milan and then Atletico Madrid-may be on to a new and exciting chapter as the striker reportedly has his heart set on a return to the Premier League.

Southampton are also apparently interested in the Spanish striker.

Newcastle fans will be hopeful that Benitez can lure his compatriot to St James' Park after the striker spent three years working under the Magpies boss at Liverpool and nearly one season at Chelsea.

It's said that the World Cup victor has admires in the United States and China, but prefers one last stint in the Premier League before returning to Atletico Madrid, where he intends to retire.

So could Rafa be the man to revive Torres' flagging fortunes and help him win back a starting spot at Atletico? He went onto play over 200 games for them in his first spell there, scoring 82 goals.

Torres spent four seasons with Liverpool and became a real fans' favourite. Torres spent three and a half years at Chelsea and despite some saying he was never the same player he was at Liverpool, he still scored 45 goals in his time at Stamford Bridge but was always under serious pressure due to the price tag. Before that happens though, he wants to play as much as he can for the remainder of this season, something that isn't likely at Atletico.

Torres is now having a hard time at Atletico Madrid and has been limited to only two starts so far this season.

Newcastle United fans will be excitedly looking ahead to a potentially dramatic January transfer window, where the Magpies could find themselves with plenty of money to spend.
