Bellator Sends Out Press Release Touting Jake Hager's Signing

Jake

Jake Hager, better known by his WWE ring name Jack Swagger, announced Monday on "The MMA Hour" with Ariel Helwani that he had signed a multi-fight deal with Bellator MMA and would make his professional debut in 2018.

Amusing enough, Hager's bracket in wrestling that year also featured future UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, former Bellator champion Cole Konrad as well as current American Top Team wrestling coach Steve Mocco.

"This is something I've wanted to do for a long time".

Swagger has legitimate skill as a amateur wrestler, setting a school record for most pins in a season (30) while wrestling for the University of Oklahoma. It's something that's a part of me, so it makes sense. "I like what Bellator are doing right now and the roster is filling up and it's not just top heavy, the guys in the middle of the rankings are very competitive and unsafe". "I've always been a fan of MMA, I've been wrestling since I was five-years-old".

Bellator has sent out a press release hyping up the signing of Jake Hager. When I heard he was seriously interested in competing in MMA and when you look at what he did at the collegiate level, I was very interested in having him on our roster.

Another pro wrestler is trying their hand at mixed martial arts.
