At least three dead after gunman opens fire at U.S. primary school

Authorities said at least three people are dead following a shooting at an elementary school in Northern California on Tuesday morning.

Law enforcement says the shooter was shot and killed by police.

The six-year-old child reportedly had two gunshot wounds and another child was reportedly shot in the leg. Multiple injuries are also being reported.

Deputies then learned that there were multiple victims at the elementary school.

Sheriff's officials say the students are now at a safe location.

KCRA reports officers are investigating at least five scenes in the school and the surrounding area.

All other students had been evacuated from the school, authorities said.

A witness named Tiffany, who operates Coffee Addiction Coffee Shop near the school, told KRCR News Channel 7 she heard 90-100 shots fired.

Rancho Tehama is a community of about 3,500 northwest of Corning.
