Airbus in $40bn deal to sell 430 A320s to USA firm

The airline had announced orders for 288 planes as of the end of October.

"This significant commitment for 430 additional aircraft underscores our optimistic view of the growth potential of our family of low-priced airlines, as well as our confidence in the A320neo Family as a platform for that growth", said Indigo managing partner Franke.

At current list prices, these additional aircraft are worth in excess of US$17.2 billion although discounts will be granted by Airbus.

The Airbus, Indigo Partners deal isn't just good news for the airplane manufacturer, it will also double the stock of planes across the Indigo Partners low-priced carrier group.

It was one of the industry's biggest deals by volume and the most planes ever sold by Airbus in one batch.

Airlines under Indigo Partners previously placed orders for 427 A320 family aircraft.

New Chile-based airline, JetSmart.

Wizz Air (W6, Budapest) has announced it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for the purchase of a further 146 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft entailing seventy-two A320neo and seventy-four A321neo.

It will also allow Airbus to overtake Boeing, with a total of 718 orders against its American rival's 605.
