Medical Director at Mercy Breast Care Center Dr. Adnan Qalbani says that regular check-ups are crucial. Breast cancer has affected many of Direct Wire's employees and family members; this is one reason they feel it is important to do what they can to prevent this bad disease from spreading.

Dr. Qalbani suggests that every woman should get a mammogram every year, starting at the age of 40.

A genetic test that accurately predicts the risk of developing breast cancer could reduce the number of women choosing pre-emptive mastectomy surgery, according to a new study.

Breast Cancer Now's Director for Scotland, Mary Allison, added: "As the UK's largest breast cancer research charity we are dedicated to funding the brightest minds to look into ways to save more lives from the disease". "There's been many that have been done that have led to using hormonal therapy in someone who was at high risk for cancer not just after they had already been diagnosed", said Turner.

Lester Barr, chairman of charity Prevent Breast Cancer, which partly funded the research, said: "With more accurate genetic testing, we can better predict a woman's risk of developing the disease and therefore offer the appropriate advice and support, rather than a "one size fits all" approach. But you should try and be on a limited dose, and you should be on it the shortest period of time you can". Held on various dates throughout October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the events feature entertainment, fun activities, and special VIP tents for survivors and caregivers. "This year I wanted to go city-wide with my efforts for Breast Cancer Awareness". Most people that see a pink ribbon or nearly anything pink this month will recognize it signifies breast cancer awareness.
