UFC Winnipeg Headlined by Robbie Lawler vs. Rafael dos Anjos

The UFC announced today that a battle of former champions will headline the company's next FOX special as Robbie Lawler, the former welterweight champion, will face Rafael dos Anjos, the former lightweight champion.

Former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos, meanwhile, has seen something of a resurgence since moving up to welterweight.

UFC on FOX 26 takes place December 16 at MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Lawler, who is now ranked as the number one contender for the title, has a 28-11 record with one no contest. Both Lawler and dos Anjos possess knockout power and is a main event that is as solid as they come as far as Fight Nights go.

Lawler has fought in some of the UFC's all-time great wars, including wins over Rory MacDonald and Carlos Condit. The 35-year-old last appeared at UFC 214 in July, when he was awarded a three-round unanimous decision over Donald Cerrone at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Dos Anjos promised to make his fight with Woodley (18-3-1 MMA, 8-2-1 UFC) an entertaining one by pushing the action.

Since then, having moved up to welterweight, he's 2-0 with wins over former Strikeforce champ Tarec Saffiedine and Neil Magny.

In another light-heavyweight bout, 11th-ranked Brazilian Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (22-7) will meet 15th-ranked American Jared Cannonier (10-2). This news was announced by the UFC on Thursday morning. The eighth-ranked Cirkunov, from Toronto, has won eight of his last nine fights. More fights are expected to be added.
