Max Holloway Defends Title Against Frankie Edgar At UFC 218

Holloway captured the title in at UFC 212 in July when he finished former pound-for-pound No 1 Jose Aldo in the third round.

MAX HOLLOWAY HAS got a date and an opponent for his first outing as the UFC's undisputed featherweight champion.

The first title defense of new UFC featherweight king Max Holloway will go down at UFC 218, this December 2 in Detroit, Michigan.

That extended Holloway's current winning streak in the Octagon to a hugely impressive 11 fights, including victories over the likes of Anthony Pettis, Ricardo Lamas, Jeremy Stephens, Charles Oliveira and Cub Swanson. Having won eleven straight bouts dating back to 2014, he has not lost since dropping a 2013 decision to Conor McGregor.

His solitary loss came via decision in a title fight against Aldo at UFC 200 in July of past year, and he's since returned to winning ways with victories over Jeremy Stephens and Yair Rodriguez to seal another shot at the belt.

The former UFC lightweight champion defeated Hilo's B.J. Penn for the title and owns three wins over Penn in his career.

Cortney Casey (7-4, 3-3), who now lives in Maui, is expected to fight Felice Herrig (13-6) in a women's 115-pound bout. That said, he has proven to be one of the most gutsy fighters in the promotion, and would certainly be worthy of the status of a two-division champion. It'll serve as the main event of UFC 218.
