Superteams will create 28 'garbage' teams, says National Basketball Association legend Jordan

Michael Jordan concerned about NBA super teams

However, Michael Jordan begs to differ, and believes this so-called "Super Team era" will hurt the National Basketball Association and make the other 28 teams in the league absolute garbage.

Jordan did an interview with.wait for it.Cigar Aficionado for the magazine's upcoming 25th anniversary issue that hits newstands on October 31, and he was asked how often he smokes. In an interview with Cigar Aficionado, Jordan said the superteam era will leave the league with one or two great teams while the 28 other teams "are going to be garbage".

"You're never going to say who's the greatest of all time", Jordan said.

He also talked about his pal Tiger Woods, a 14-time major champion golfer struggling to return after multiple back operations, and said he himself might not have "survived in this Twitter time".

In those championship seasons from 1991-93 and 1996-98, Jordan's teams won 61, 67, 57, 72, 69 and 62 games, dominating the league. Golden State had a quieter offseason but, of course, that team scored one of the biggest free agent acquisitions ever a year ago when Kevin Durant joined the likes of Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson.

They aren't the only teams with a conglomeration of stars: The Oklahoma City Thunder boast Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony and Paul George; the Houston Rockets have Chris Paul and James Harden; and Boston Celtics have Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward and Al Horford.

Jordan, in speaking with Cigar Aficionado, said that he considers both Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus great, but he would never compare the two because they played in different eras. "I think you're going to see these things have a way of working themselves out over time". Think back - we had the Lakers and Celtics. Now these two teams are being called dynasties. Barring any major injuries, the Warriors will be the prohibitive favorites to win the championship again. "Golden State hadn't won it in 40 years". Does that make Russell better than me or make me better than him? "I would never say one is greater than the other".
