Stones keen to replicate Manchester City form for England

Brazilian midfielder Oscar reveals he will consider a move back to Chelsea from China

After Manchester City's important win over Chelsea, boss Guardiola assessed his side's chances of winning the Premier League.

City have started the new season in scintillating form - scoring 22 goals and conceding just two in their opening seven league games.

When asked about Guardiola's impact on his game, Stones said: "Really good".

"I think so. I think I've always been moving in the right direction".

"We have the players to do it", said the Manchester City defender. "It's hard to bring how you play in the Premier League into worldwide football - it's so different - but we're always striving to become better and there's a lot of likeness between how City play and global football". Everyone has their ups and downs.

Following his side's statement of intent at Chelsea, Pep Guardiola was questioned on his side's competition for the Premier League crown, with the Spaniard singling out United and Tottenham as threats.

"It was an important game (on Saturday) and defensively, on a personal note, I think it's maybe one of the best games I've played in". To get all those things is very hard.

Stones says that England have the players to be able to play the same kind of football.

The Belgian played a superb one-two with Gabriel Jesus and with his supposedly weaker foot, unleashed a belting effort past compatriot Thibaut Courtois to score the victor against the team that got rid of him three years back.

The City manager said that his players now had the belief in his high-pressing system and had set out their stall to try to win every game rather than adapt to a more defensive, counter-attacking style when they visit the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal.

The 27-year-old rejected a move this summer to Stoke City to give his injury-plagued career with the Manchester giants one last throw of the dice, having failed to nail down a regular run of games since his controversial £8m switch from Villa Park two years ago.
