"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" Official Trailer

Rian Johnson Gets Hilariously Sassy with STAR WARS Fans on Twitter

Star Wars: The Last Jedi featured quite a lot in its long-awaited trailer, but one thing that has hardcore fans of the franchise excited is that there's a really subtle detail paying homage to 1983's Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.

A new in-theatre stand-up advertisement for the film's IMAX release challenges fans to choose "Light side or dark side", with the advertisement split into two literal sides. However, it's hard to miss that Luke (Mark Hamill) is prominently featured on both sides. "Star Wars: Jedi Challenges" features a smartphone-powered Lenovo Mirage AR headset, Tracking Beacon, Lightsabre controller, and hours of Star Wars gameplay.

It stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, and Gwendoline Christie in returning roles. "The Last Jedi" director Rian Johnson says if fans want to see the movie "clean", without having too much about the movie spoiled, they might want to avoid tonight's trailer. Luke Skywalker? Also of note: It's Luke, not Snoke, standing over the Dark Side villains. But the IMAX standee is the first time we've seen Luke actually depicted on the opposite and ominous side of the Force.

Thor: Ragnarok will be released theatrically November 3. Justice League is due out in theaters November 17, while Star Wars: The Last Jedi will follow on December 15. To guide the player, Jedi Challenges will introduce a new Star Wars character, the Archivist.
