Rel Jio hikes tariffs, brings relief for older telcos

Reliance Jio revises 4G data plans new Dhan Dhana Dhan plans to come into effect from Diwali

Jio has been updating its data plans and offering cashback for Diwali, and now starting today it has announced another change to its most talked-about Rs 399 data plan and some others.

Over a year after beginning telecom services with disruptive tariffs, Reliance Jio hiked tariff for the first time as it reduced benefits under its popular Rs 399 plan. While this may come as a bad news to many, the updated plans from Jio also come with a good news.

Another plan of Rs 999 is also launched - which is valid till three months and will have 60 GB data limit.

The data entitlement of the Rs 149 plan is enhanced to over 4 GB for every 28 days from the already existing 2 GB. 2 GB of data on daily basis will be availble for customers. For Rs 52, Jio is offering same data benefits with one week validity. Gadgets 360 has learned that the new Jio 459 plan will provide users with 1GB of high-speed data per day for 84 days, along with free calls and bundled SMS, and access to the company's apps. Earlier reports about Jio increasing the tariffs have turned out to be true for the Rs. 399 plan.

An interesting point to note is that as per the new T&Cs, the FUP policy will cap the bandwidth to 64Kbps instead of the 128Kbps limit enforced previously, post the high-speed allowance.

Customers who want a validity of 84 days will have to recharge with Rs. 459 plan. Next is the Rs. 409 pack, with Rs. 500 deposit and 20GB data without any daily restrictions on consumption. Under the Rs 509 offer, users get 98GB of data for a period of 49 days and a daily limit of 2GB.

Introduction of these new plans comes after its earlier Rs 399 plan got expired on October 18, which used to offer 100% cashback. The company is offering users to recharge with old plans offering till tonight.

For small value recharges, Jio has introduced super-affordable daily and weekly packs.
