Question of corruption doesn't arise in Jay's company: Amit Shah

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah on Friday said there was no question of any wrongdoing by a company promoted by his son, Jay Amit Shah. This company is completely in commodity business, where turnover is more while the profit is less. "If a company's turnover becomes Rs one crore, its profit does not become Rs one crore", he was quoted as saying.

Based on documents filed by Shah with the Registrar of Companies (RoC), The Wire had reported: "Company balance sheets and annual reports obtained from the RoC reveal that in the financial years ending March 2013 and 2014, Shah's Temple Enterprise Private Ltd. engaged in negligible activity and recorded losses of Rs 6,230 and Rs 1,724 respectively. The figure in question is turnover not profit". "All the payments were made through cheque; there is no question of money laundering".

On October 9, Jay Shah filed a criminal defamation suit against The Wire in a metropolitan court in Ahmedabad.

"Even after facing so many corruption charges, Congress never filed a defamation suit but Jay has filed one..."

Earlier, the BJP had come out in defense of Jay Shah with union ministers like Piyush Goyal and Rajnath Singh backing Amit Shah's son. Why they lacked such courage?

The Aam Adam Party (AAP), too, hit out at the BJP and said it will launch a protest across Uttar Pradesh to demand an independent SIT probe into allegations against Jay Shah.

In his application to the court, Jay Shah sought criminal action against the respondents for defaming and tarnishing his reputation through an article that he said was "scandalous, frivolous, misleading, derogatory, libellous and consisting of several defamatory statements". His company has not done any dealings with the government, has not taken any land... "Where is money laundering in it", he asked.

He said the firm had not taken unsecured loans, but a line of credit. "Jay's cash was lying in the bank, and we have paid the loan with interest".
