Police Seek Help To Identify Dead Boy Found On Texas Beach

TIJUANA MEXICO- OCTOBER 5 Prototype sections of a border wall between Mexico and the United States are under construction

No missing child alerts match the description of the boy, nor does the Coast Guard show any reports of a missing person of this estimated age and description at this time, but mourners held a vigil for the unknown boy Saturday.

A small boy's body was discovered Friday evening along the shore of Galveston Beach and authorities have not been able to identify him, KHOU-TV reports. "There's not a lot of beach in between between the dunes and the actual tideline, so, it's definitely not heavily trafficked, not heavily populated and really don't get a lot of people walking to and from", Captain Joshua Schirard with the Galveston Police said. "That's why we're working so hard on this case and figure out how and why this happened".

Schirard said the body was found naked with no major signs of trauma. The boy was found by a passer-by on the sand in between 7th and 8th streets, just west of Stewart Beach around 5:30 p.m. Friday.

"Someone somewhere knows this child".

A forensic sketch artist has since created an image of the boy that are police are hoping to use to track down his family.

Investigators said they were looking into a missing person's case in Hawkins County, Tennessee, involving a boy whose picture is similar to the composite sketch of the boy found dead in Galveston.

However, more than 48 hours since the boy's body was found, no one has come forward to claim him.
