Parents of Missing 3-Year-Old Texas Girl Not Cooperating With Police

Police Father of missing Texas girl 3 did laundry before reporting daughter gone

Mathews was arrested on charges of endangering a child but released after posting bail.

Police officers and Federal Bureau of Investigation agents were at the home on Wednesday, and served a search warrant to look for evidence.

Police say the girl's father, 37-year-old Wesley Mathews, told detectives that he told Sherin to stand by a tree about 100 feet from the family's home because she would not drink her milk. After looking around for her, he said he then went inside to do laundry and made a decision to wait until morning to continue searching or for her to return on her own.

Police said Mathews went back inside the house thinking Sherin would eventually come back home. However, the alert was discontinued on Monday afternoon due to the lack of necessary information.

According to Sherin's father Wesley Mathews' version of the events, his adopted daughter with special needs went missing at 3.15 am on Saturday. Sherin's mother, Sini Mathews, has not been charged with any crime.

However, the Richardson Police Department has said that both parents are being uncooperative. "It's going to take us a little while to get through the electronic stuff we collected", Perlich said.

"As far as why she was out there, how long she was out there, that's the questions we have for the parents", he added.

Before he stopped cooperating with police, he told them he left her outside by a tree at 3 a.m.

The couple's 4-year-old daughter has been removed from the home by Child Protective Services as well. He told officials he was hoping she would return. Urqhart was searching the neighborhood armed with equipment to lift storm drains that Sherin may have fallen into. The little girl's adoptive mother has not spoken out. "It should matter to everyone".

Also, Richardson police spokesman Sgt. Kevin Perlich pointed out that they want to know more about why the parents of Williams called them only five hours after she initially went missing. Search teams and dogs were deployed to scour the area but unearthed no new leads in the case.

Sherin Mathews, who has developmental issues and limited verbal communication skills, was last seen outside her family's backyard in Richardson, Dallas.

Sherin is described as three feet tall and weighs 22 pounds, she has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a pink top, black pajama bottoms and pink flip-flops.
