Packers RB Ty Montgomery has broken ribs, may play against Dallas anyway

All-22 look at what went wrong for the Bears in Green Bay

He didn't have a game to worry about playing in the following week, and he certainly didn't have 10 days worth of rest until that game.

This is an injury Montgomery has actually had before, he's never played with broken ribs until those few snaps after the initial break on Thursday, but he did break multiple ribs during the NFC title game back in January.

For Montgomery's part, he told Spofford, "I'm going into this week as if I'm going to play". "...but at the end of the day, it's going to be up to me". We're going to talk about a plan and what type of protection I can wear, rib cages or flak jackets or whatever. And running back Ty Montgomery is dealing with a chest injury.

"The defensive tackle landed full body weight on him, so it was like a hammer-and-nail type situation", Montgomery said. He then proceeded to carry the ball four more times on that ensuing opening drive before removing himself from the game.

"We've got a lot of good film to look at, a lot of places to grow, but also a lot of stuff to be proud of - 3-1, first quarter of the season over, with now an impending tough trip down to Dallas". Wide receiver Davante Adams does as well, but like Montgomery, he may be a long shot to play Sunday as well. Adams was taken off the field on a gurney and straight to a local hospital, where he spent the night for evaluation.

"I'm not willing to risk my overall long-term health", he said.

This isn't the big-play offense the Green Bay Packers have come to expect, but so far it hasn't really slowed them down. Last season, Adams was in the concussion protocol for less than a week before being cleared in time for the week seven game against the Bears.

The Packers have been hit with plenty of injuries.
