Netflix's She's Gotta Have It Official Trailer

She's Gotta Have It

Most people feel like it's better to not touch a classic piece of cinema or television with a remake, but what if the creator of that classic cinema wants to expand its world?

Director Spike Lee burst on to the American film scene in 1986 with She's Gotta Have It.

The show will feature all of the original characters, including Greer Childs (Cleo Anthony), Jamie Overstreet (Lyriq Bent), and Mars Blackmon - who will not be portrayed by Lee in this version, but by Hamilton's Anthony Ramos.

Of course, Darling is also surrounded by a stable of friends played by Margot Bingham, Chyna Layne, and Elise Hudson.

"As a sex positive polyamorous pansexual, monogamy never even seemed like a remote possibility", Nola Darling (DeWanda Wise) says in the first trailer for Netflix's She's Gotta Have It. The movie centers around Brooklyn artist Nola Armstrong who is in her late twenties and like many people that age is trying to figure herself out and manage her professional side with the personal side of her life. Nola is aggressive, progressive, very sexual, and open to all kinds of relationships. The 10-episode series is being directed entirely by Lee who also created the series and works as the executive producer alongside his wife Tonya Lewis Lee. While we got a sneak peak of the newly adapted series, we haven't heard much chatter about it until now.
