Many Facebook, Instagram users experiencing outages

In our tests, both Facebook and Instagram are seemingly up in South Africa.

Facebook is down for hundreds of users across the United States.

Some users can access their News Feed, but are having issues posting updates and sharing on the network.

Facebook confirmed the outage, saying: "We're aware that some people are now having trouble accessing Facebook and Instagram".

According to Downdetector, users in the U.S. and parts of Europe appear to be worst affected by the outage. As per the data, fifty percent of the people reported having issues while logging in, while 40 percent reported that they suffered a total blackout issue.

Facebook acknowledged that people weren't able to use the site, or Instagram, which it owns.

The social media sites went off line about 11 a.m. ET, and Twitter exploded because people have to post something and share their thoughts somehow.

On Twitter, many users from several countries said they were unable to even access Facebook.

Down Detectors has recorded a huge spike in reports of Facebook outages today.
