Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat election 2017 dates

New Delhi:The Election Commission will announce the dates for the Assembly polls in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh at 4 pm today

According to sources in the poll panel, the dates for Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections are likely to be announced today by the Election Commission.

Chief Election Commissioner AK Joti (centre) said elections to the Gujarat Assembly will be organised prior to December 18. Himachal will be voting on 9th November.

He said the election process in Gujarat will be completed before vote count in Himachal.

After scrutiny on October 24, the last date for withdrawal of nominations is October 26, he said. The election results will be declared on 18th December.

# A total 7521 of polling stations to be set up in Himachal Pradesh. "We will, in a few days, announce the dates for Gujarat election, but I can say for sure that voting in Gujarat will happen before December 18". CEC said that they had only visited Gujarat couple of days back and the schedule will be chalked up after getting feedbacks from all stakeholders.

Meanwhile, the term of the current Himachal Pradesh Assembly ends next month. VVPAT machines will also be there along with EVMs.

Announcing the dates, Chief Election Commissioner AK Joti said the polling process for Himachal Pradesh will begin with the issue of election notification on October 16, and the last date for filing nomination is October 23.

The CEC, also announced that bulk SMSs and voice messages on phone shall also be in purview of election advertisements.

"No. The voter (sic) won't get the slip".

The term of the 182-member Gujarat Assembly ends on 22 January, 2018 while that of the 68-member Himachal Pradesh's Assembly ends on 7 January, 2018.
