Army Soldier from Maryland Injured in'Tragic Accident at Base

The six injured soldiers, two critically, were transported to a nearby hospital.

An Alabama soldier was injured and two others killed in a deadly accident Friday at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. The Army has released only limited information regarding what occurred. Ethan Shrader, of Prospect, Tennessee, and Pv.t Timothy Ashcraft, of Cincinnati, Ohio, according to a statement by the Army.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. Friday at Fort Jackson, the Army's site for Basic Combat Training.

Rev. Foreman, pastor of First Baptist Church in Level Plains, and other family members traveled to SC this weekend to be with Pvt. Alan Kryszak, of Clarksville, Tennessee; and Pvt. No further details have been released on what caused the accident and what type of vehicle was involved. Cardre Jackson Jr., Laurel, Maryland; and Pvt. James Foster, of Macon, Georgia. The Army did say the dead and injured were a "troop formation". Gen. Pete Johnson said in a separate statement.

It has with more than 50,000 recruits assigned there each year.

The facility is home to the U.S. Army Soldier Support Institute, the Armed Forces Army Chaplaincy Center and School and the National Center for Credibility Assessment (formerly the Department of Defense Polygraph Institute).

"We are continuing to support everyone affected by this tragic event", said U.S. Army Training Center and Fort Jackson Commander Maj. Thousands more soldiers attend the fort's chaplain and drill sergeant schools. We also appreciate the outpouring of support.

"We ask that everyone keep the six service members who sustained injuries in their thoughts and prayers in the days ahead".
