Walt Disney Animation's upcoming Jack and the Beanstalk-inspired film big, which was featured at their D23 Expo in 2015, is no longer in development.

Ever since the release of Tangled, it seems that Walt Disney Animation has found a new Renaissance what with the successful releases of films like Frozen, Wreck-It Ralph, Zootopia, and Moana.

Variety is reporting that the company has halted development on huge, an animated refresh on the classic Jack and the Beanstalk story.

Very big would have been directed by Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) and Nathan Greno (Tangled) and was set to feature music from Frozen songwriters Robert Lopez and Kirsten Anderson-Lopez. He explains that they've put quite a bit of work into big, but "no matter how much we love an idea or how much heart goes into it" sometimes it just doesn't work out. Jack discovers a world of giants in the clouds, including the 60-foot-tall, 11-year-old Inma, who he agrees to help on her journey home.

Disney is no stranger to cancelling animated films.

"It is impossible to know, when we start a project, how the creative process will evolve and, a few times, regardless of the passion that inspires us, or our love of the topic, it simply does not work". The project was to feature original music from the Oscar-winning songwriting team of Robert LOPEZ and Kristen-Anderson Lopez.

With Gigantic no longer in active development at Disney, the studio will move ahead on another project to fill the 2020 release date formerly held by animated film.

Instead of "Gigantic", the studio is focusing on another project which is now being tabled for Thanksgiving 2020.

Upcoming for Disney Animation is Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 on November 21, 2018 and Frozen 2 on November 27, 2019.
