Danny Rose wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur to join Manchester United

Danny Rose set to reject Chelsea transfer in order to join Manchester United in £45m deal

Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose is reportedly keen to join Manchester United in what could be a £45m deal.

A source said: "The lure of United is too strong for him and if he had the choice he would pick United hands down".

He has not played since January due to a knee injury that required surgery but is on course to return to training next week. But after five months of rehabilitation he returned to first-team training this week and is understood to be feeling good.

The England global caused a storm earlier in the summer when criticising the club's transfer policy and wage structure, but immediately received the backing of Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino who insisted the player remained in his plans.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy fined Rose and made him issue a public apology.

Rose being on the sidelines did not prevent Manchester United from mulling over a possible summer swoop for him, but thankfully for Spurs' fanbase his injury halted the Red Devils from making an official bid.

Shaw is the best hope United have for a long-term solution at left-back, but he continues to be something of an enigma and barely trusted by Mourinho.

But Mourinho knows the addition of Rose, with his lightening speed and attacking threat going forward, would be a huge asset to his side.

Signing Rose would arguably solve United's problems on the left of defence in one swoop.

Rose, 27, is nearly certain to be included in Gareth Southgate's World Cup squad provided he remains fit for the rest of the season.
