Congress on Monday demanded the resignation of BJP president Amit Shah to ensure independent probe into his son's business dealings and held press conferences in 12 state capitals to highlight the controversy over Jay Shah's business.

This allegations of corruption and the resultant declaration of the intention to file a civil and criminal defamation suit made it to the front pages of nearly every national daily today. In FY 2014-15, it earned Rs 50,000 as revenue. He informed that M/s Temple Enterprise was incorporated in 2004 with Jay Amitbhai Shah and Jitendra Shah listed as its directors. Why did Jay Shah close down his company a day before demonetisation was announced? The OpIndia piece says that story is "low on facts, high on innuendo", because, according to it, "revealing such information would puncture the entire narrative that Jay Amit Shah's business was successful just as Modi came into power".

A website which is unabashedly pro-Modi government,, published a rebuttal as well, in which the authors said that while The Wire story mentions the revenue, it fails to mention the "expenses incurred", which the site puts at Rs 81.99 crore, with a net loss of Rs 1.48 crore. CM Anandibai Patel and Amit Shah's children have bent government rules and indulged in corrupt practices to bolster their personal incomes.

"Either Amit Shah should immediately step down from his post or he should be relieved from the charge as the party president, so that allegations of irregularities levelled against his son Jay Shah's company could be probed independently", AICC spokesperson Pawan Khera said in a press conference. "It plans to sanction around Rs 13,000 crore this financial year".

He suspected that PM Modi and Amit Shah might have tipped their suit-boot friends and their kith and kin about demonetization.

"Jay's company did not have any previous experience in windmills or in the renewable energy sector".

If anyone else republish/re-broadcast the imputations made in the said article, whether directly or indirectly, such person or entity will also be guilty of the very same criminal and/or civil liability.

Congress spokesman Anand Sharma said Shah must quit as there can not be an independent probe into his son's business as long as he remains the chief of the ruling party.

The Congress also demanded a probe monitored by the Supreme Court into the media report which wrote about the business dealings of Amit Shah's son Jay Shah. He said Amit Shah's son Rs. 100 crores defamatory suit was an attempt to suppress the media and their freedom of expression. "It is being done to instil fear in the minds of the people to not support the BJP there", he said.
