Three killed in a cylinder blast in Bengaluru’s Ejipura area

Six people of a family were killed and three were injured after a two-story residential building collapsed on Monday due to cylinder blast in Ejipura area of Bengaluru.

Rescue workers on Monday rescued a little girl from the debris of a collapsed building in Bengaluru. "They are safe. In the ground floor, members of two families might have been trapped", said Karnataka Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy, who visited the spot.

Authorities fear death toll would rise as some people are reported to be trapped under the debris.

"Five people have died and five have been rescued", Bengaluru Development and Town Planning Minister K.J. George said on TV from the accident site. "Cylinders on both ground and first floor had no gas in them", he said. Many people were still sleeping when the incident occurred.

They have been identified as Kalavathi (68), Ravichandran (48), Hariprasad (19) and Pavan Kalyan (18).

At least 40 fire-fighters and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have rushed to the spot and rescue operations are underway.
