Adrian Peterson and David Johnson share a mutual respect

Adrian Peterson believes he has 4-5 years left

The trade of Peterson to Arizona, in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, freed New Orleans of the complexity of finding reps for a trio of backs and sent Peterson to a team that is in more need of his services.

Peterson was a first round pick selected by the Minnesota Vikings back in 2007 and not only went on to become the most successful running back in the franchise's history, but one of the best running backs the National Football League has ever seen.

"That's just how I was brought up, man".

The Cardinals, who lost star running back David Johnson for the season in the first game, are turning to Peterson to save the offense in a division that's still up for grabs.

"I have so much left".

"I wasn't pushing to be moved, but I'd be lying to you to say that I didn't want a change of scenery", he told reporters in a Wednesday press conference that was live stream via Periscope. He finished his Saints career with just 27 caries for 81 yards. "When I go out there I'm always putting my best foot forward and I feel like it will speak for itself". "He can go. I'm hoping that he goes and proves it in Arizona". "It was unfortunate when you have three backs in that system".

Adrian Peterson's time in New Orleans had come to a crossroads.

"All the experience he has, he was trying to funnel as much as he could into me", Kamara said. I know he's been wanting those carries and those snaps.

Payton has long said he views depth as important at running back, a physical position where injuries are common.

"I really appreciate the time with him". But Payton offered a vote of confidence to undrafted rookie Trey Edmunds, who made the team as a special teams regular and Daniel Lasco, a 2016 seventh-round draft pick now on practice squad. "He taught me some things and I appreciate him for doing that, because he didn't have to, you know?"

"Of course, I was surprised", Edmunds said of Tuesday's trade.

Over the first four games of the year, Peterson has made just a single start, but has more importantly failed to total double-digit carries in any contest. Edmunds (concussion), TE Josh Hill (concussion) and CB Sterling Moore (chest) all fully participated in practice.
