Veteran actress BV Radha passes away in Bengaluru due to cardiac arrest

Veteran actress BV Radha, who has acted in over 250 films in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu films, succumbed to a heart attack on Sunday.

While her eyes have been donated to Narayana Nethralaya, her body was donated to M.S. Ramaiah Hospital. Following her husband, Radha donated her body to a medical college in Bengaluru.

Born as Rajalakshmi in 1948 in a family of farmers, she made her debut with the Kannada film, Navakoti Narayan. She had later acted in notable lmovies like "Toogudeepa", "Premamayi", "Kiladi Ranga", "Deva Manava", Rajadurgada Rahasya e tc. Radha was known in her early days for exquisite dances. Radha was honoured with the Kanaka Ratna Award by Kaginele Kanaka Guru Peetha for her contribution to theatre and cinema.

A few years back, Radha had suffered from cancer, and her husband, K S L Swamy, had provided her treatment till she was completely cured of cancer. The 70-year-old actress was rushed to a private hospital in Kalyan Nagar, Bangalore on Saturday after her condition deteriorated. One of her roles was that in the 1996 film, Thazhampoo.
