Tiger Woods allowed by doctors to start chipping

Tiger Woods is stepping up his bid to return to competitive golf by posting a video of himself

Doctors have given Tiger Woods the green light to swing a club again as the 14-time major championship victor takes aim at a return to professional golf.

Woods, 41, last played in a competitive tournament at the Dubai Desert Classic in January.

Tiger Woods sent social media into a frenzy with a video of him practicing his pitching.

The 14-time major champion had a golf club in his hand.Woods tweeted a short video on Thursday showing him hitting a chip shot with a message that said, "Dr. gave me the ok to start pitching".

He withdrew from the event with back spasms and underwent back surgery for the fourth time in April. Then just last week, nude photos of Woods and ex-girlfriend Lindsey Vonn surfaced online.

The world would love to see Woods make one final run at Jack Nicklaus' major championship record (18), but all signs point to the end of that chase.

In the early morning hours of Memorial Day, he was arrested for DUI not far from his Florida home; according to a toxicology report, he had the drugs Vicodin, Dilaudid, Xanax, Ambien and THC in his system at the time.

In mid-June, Woods announced he was receiving "professional help" to manage his use of medications for back pain and insomnia and checked himself into a clinic.
