Skoda a flurry of new models is waiting in the wings

Skoda Auto India has launched its fastest and the most powerful vehicle ever in India - the Octavia RS 230. The Octavia RS is also available with the six-speed manual gearbox in the global markets.

The Octavia RS230 is powered by a 2 litre turbocharged petrol engine with a top speed of 250 km/h.

Czech carmaker Skoda announced the launch of performance-oriented Octavia RS in India on Friday, September 1.

If you have been waiting for the Skoda Octavia RS, then the good news is that the auto has reached major Skoda dealerships around the country. Interestingly, the regular variant of the Octavia is locally manufactured in India, while the Octavia RS has been brought into the country via the CBU (completely built-up unit) route. Although internationally the vehicle is available with a manual transmission and an all-wheel drive system, the Indian markets gets only the automatic option and the front-wheel drive variant.

In India, Skoda Octavia RS, the highly anticipated has scheduled to go on sale later today. Additionally, the automobile also gets a revised suspension setup and a wider track at the rear. More than 200,000 RS models have been sold to date of which 100,000 have been the third-generation Octavia RSs and have been sold since 2013. The performance sedan gets a more aggressive body kit which includes redesigned bumpers, steel tip exhausts, tailgate mounted spoiler, side skirts and larger 17-inch alloy wheels. So while the price advantage may be in favour of the Polo GTI, the Skoda Octavia RSbrings with it the luxury and status of a sedan as well as torquey motor and sportier dynamics that may make it quicker.

Coming to the interior, the Octavia RS comes with ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, paddle shifters, traction control and a touchscreen infotainment system.

Apart from a more powerful engine, the proposed Kodiaq vRS will feature a number of subtle design tweaks to set it apart from the base model.
