Seymour On Pro Football Hall of Fame Ballot

6 former Bills listed as nominees for Pro Football Hall of Fame's 2018 class

The nominees for the 2018 class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame have been announced and five former members of the Pittsburgh Steelers organization are among the 108 nominees.

Steve Smith Sr., who Carolina Panthers fans and Baltimore Ravens fans alike have cherished throughout his 16-year, 1,000-catch and almost 15,000-yard career with both teams, is not actually eligible since he just retired last year (he's now an NFL Network analyst).

The Colts' fourth-overall pick in the 1999 NFL Draft out of Miami, James lit up the league from the start in his NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year campaign, leading the league in rushing with 1,553 rushing yards and also scoring 13 touchdowns on the ground and four touchdowns through the air.

Neil Smith played only three seasons with the Broncos, but two of them resulted in Super Bowl titles. He finished his 12-season career as a seven-time Pro Bowler and a five-time All-Pro selection.

The current list will be further pared to 25 semifinalists in November by the selection committee - we are a member - and to 15 finalists in January.

According to the Hall of Fame, "a$3 ny fan may nominate any qualified person who has been connected with pro football in any capacity simply by writing to the Pro Football Hall of Fame". He just doesn't have Pro Football Hall of Fame eligibility - not yet.

There's never been a more productive wide receiver in Steelers history than Ward.

At the suggestion of former college roommate Nate Hobgood-Chittick, then-Colts general manager Bill Polian made a decision to give Saturday a tryout the following year. The finalists will consist of 15 Modern-Era finalists, the recently named Senior Finalists, Robert Brazile and Jerry Kramer, and the Contributor Finalist, Bobby Beathard.

Offensive linemen: Willie Anderson (T), Matt Birk (C), Tony Boselli (T), Lomas Brown (T), Ruben Brown (G), Ray Donaldson (C), Alan Faneca (G), Bill Fralic (G/T), Jay Hilgenberg (C), Chris Hinton (G/T), Kent Hull (C), Steve Hutchinson (G), Joe Jacoby (T), Mike Kenn (T), Kevin Mawae (C/G), Tom Nalen (C), Nate Newton (G), Bart Oates (C), Jeff Saturday (C), Richmond Webb (T), Steve Wisniewski (G). Another nominee, defensive end Simeon Rice spent one season with the Colts.

Running backs: Edgerrin James, Tiki Barber, Earnest Byner, Roger Craig, Corey Dillon, Eddie George, Lorenzo Neal, Fred Taylor, Herschel Walker, Ricky Watters.

Linebackers: Carl Banks, Cornelius Bennett, Tedy Bruschi, Seth Joyner, Ray Lewis, Greg Lloyd, Wilber Marshall, Clay Matthews, Willie McGinest (also DE), Karl Mecklenburg, Sam Mills, Joey Porter, Darryl Talley, Zach Thomas, Brian Urlacher.

Of the group, both Smiths, Atwater, Dawkins, and Lynch seem to have the best chance at eventually landing a gold jacket.
