San Jose Sues President Trump over DACA Rollback

A USA judge on Thursday repeatedly pressed the Trump administration to extend an October deadline for some immigrants to reapply for a program that shielded children brought to the United States illegally by their parents from deportation. Trump and Attorney Gen. Jeff Sessions last week announced a plan to stop taking new applications and end it in six months, but said those whose two-year permits expire by March would have until October 5 to extend them.

"There's only one thing that cracks President Trump's base, and that's if he cracks on immigration", the Iowa Republican said in an interview. In the first such tweet from his @realDonaldTrump account, the president wrote, "No deal was made last night on DACA".

"Renewal of your DACA status may be your only opportunity to obtain an additional two years of deportation protection and legal work authorization", White stated.

The President says that it's up to Congress to fix this, and he gave us six months to do it. Congress now has an urgent and closing window to right this wrong and prevent a humanitarian and economic catastrophe for these young people, their families, their communities, and for our country.

"I'm excited, with this pressure, slowly but surely he's moving towards us", said Ruiz Lira. And the Immigration Legal Resource Center estimates that removing them will cost business owners across the country $3.4 billion in termination and replacement costs.

President Trump is actively discussing a deal with Congress that would both allow dreamers to stay permanently, and fund his signature campaign promise of building a wall along the U.S. -Mexico border, CNN reported on Thursday.

Garaufis, who's scheduled to hear the DACA suit against the Trump administration brought by Eric Schneiderman and 15 other attorneys general, also said that he'd prefer to see the issue hammered out in the legislature rather than by a judge.

DACA allows undocumented residents brought as children to the avoid deportation.

Steve King, a Republican congressman, said: "The Trump base is blown up, destroyed, irreparable, and disillusioned beyond fix".
