Refreshed Ford EcoSport revealed ahead of Frankfurt Motor Show

2018 Ford Eco Sport SUV gets a REFINEMENT upgrade

The new Ford EcoSport for the first time offers Ford Intelligent All Wheel Drive technology which is claimed to offer improved traction on- and off-road, combined with an advanced new 1.5-litre EcoBlue diesel engine, delivering up to 125 PS of power and 300 Nm of peak torque.

"Cosmetic changes include a big new trapezoidal grille, HID headlights, LED running lights, new back bumper and tail lights and new 17" and 18" alloys.

Ford is hoping the new model will lift the EcoSport's declining Australian sales which are down 22.5 per cent to the end of August this year compared with the same period last year. Here is the complete information regarding this auto.

Ford says that the EcoBlue will also come with front-wheel drive and "all-new, low-friction" six-speed manual gearbox for even lower Carbon dioxide and better fuel efficiency from mid-2018. It's not quite the first time we've seen it, however - Ford unveiled the United States spec EcoSport facelift at the LA Motor Show past year, so the vehicle we'll see at Frankfurt is its European market sibling.

The 1.0-litre three-cylinder EcoBoost, which would be the other petrol engine choice, is offered only with a five-speed manual gearbox at the moment.

The auto boasts a new face, ditching the split grille of the outgoing model in favour of a look more in line with the rest of Ford's line-up. Buyers can choose from 12 bold colours and more personalisation options - including contrasting roof colours.

In terms of tech, the EcoSport has been updated to feature Ford's latest SYNC 3 connectivity and infotainment.

The interior features a host of smart stowage solutions, including a new height adjustable boot floor that can be raised to provide concealed storage, or lowered to increase luggage capacity to 334 litres. SYNC 3 is supported by EcoSport's floating, 8-inch colour touchscreen, which can be operated with pinch and swipe gestures.

The new EcoSport will also be available with automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, heated steering wheel and Electronic Automatic Temperature Control. The lower trims feature, the smaller 6.5-inch colour touchscreen.

There are several driving assistance systems added to the model for the first time, including a rear view camera, blind spot detection system and roll stability control. Making a debut is the Ford Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system that Ford says will improve the EcoSport's abilities on-road as well as off-tarmac. It will provide the improvements to the Carbon dioxide emissions performance.
