RB Leipzig striker Werner plans future move to ´big club´

Liverpool FC face competition from top club for exciting 21-year-old striker – report

As per German news outlet Sport 1 (via Daily Mirror), Liverpool remain keen on landing RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner despite failing to during the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old's future is secure for now - he is contracted until 2020 and does not have a release clause. "I've been doing well with Leipzig but it's clear that I'd like to play for a big club in the future, although maybe Leipzig will become a big club soon", he added.

Werner is coming off a strong season in which he netted 21 goals in 31 Bundesliga games, and has already started the current season with a massive four goals.

"We are playing in the Champions League and as such we can offer Timo the chance to continue his development here".

However, Werner has also hinted he could move to Spain with the German forward naming Real Madrid, Barcelona or Atletico Madrid as potential destinations in La Liga. "Perhaps RB will be a big club too - I'm quite sure", he added.

Germany worldwide Werner, who is under contract until 2020, is reportedly a target for Real Madrid next summer. In England there's more: "Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City".

Bayern Munich is also a big club, but for me it is not a topic that I am concerned with.

"On the other hand, it is often not the case that five years are fulfilled if the contract is for five years".

RB Leipzig, though, could be reluctant to sell another of their key players given Guinea global Keita will move to Liverpool at the end of the 2017-18 season.

Werner will be back in action for Leipzig tonight as the Bundesliga side face Monaco in the Champions League. "But as I said: I like it in Leipzig very much".

"I know what I want".
