PSG didn't respect my true worth - Aurier

The 24-year-old was also suspended by PSG last year for making a homophobic slur against former coach Laurent Blanc in a social media video.

As well as Aurier, Tottenham signed Fernando Llorente from Swansea and Pochettino believes the 32-year-old will bring a winning mentality to his young squad.

"I said to him, "I will kill you", I (would) head-butt him", Pochettino said.

"We had a long chat". I explained how we are, how I am, what I expect from him.

"We need to see how he is. But I trust in him and he needs to show we can trust, from today".

You judge someone from the day you meet them.

"He's so powerful, I think you know well his characteristics".

Mauricio Pochettino says that he is willing to forget the past and is confident the player will help them to achieve success.

The teenager spent the global break at Hotspur Way, Spurs' North London training base, but Pochettino says he is unlikely to be rushed into a debut in Saturday's league match at Everton.

Chelsea have a history of foiling Tottenham in the transfer market, notably signing Willian after he had undergone a medical in North London, and the Premier League champions were the favourites to sign Llorente before being beaten.

"Hugo Lloris was with his national team and sent a text to me saying 'gaffer, it's true about Llorente?'"

Asked whether Janssen is still in his plans, Pochettino said: "Yes of course".

"That is massive because that energy is fantastic and a very good example for everyone".

Meanwhile, Pochettino has reiterated that Toby Alderweireld is content at Spurs, despite reports that he is unhappy with his contract.

"He was talking with me this morning and he's so happy, he wants to make it clear he is fully committed with the club", said the Argentinian manager. He has two years plus one left on his contract. I recognise some rumours in the last few days.

"We saw him playing at Estudiantes, and started to talk with him and his parents and family to try to convince him to join us". But he is so relaxed, so calm. His idea is to play here and be happy'.
