Nawaz returns to Pakistan 'to face accountability court'

Kirmani denies differences among Sharif family members

In its July 28 landmark judgment in the Panamagate case, the Supreme Court deposed former premier Nawaz Sharif for concealing assets in his nomination papers for 2013 elections. Before leaving for Pakistan, Sharif told reporters in London that he came to inquire the health of his wife and again questioned the court's decision of his disqualification from office.

Family members who were in London with Sharif, including his daughter Maryam and sons Hussain and Hassan, did not accompany him on his return to Pakistan.

With his return, Sharif put to rest speculation by his political rivals that he had left the country to escape facing corruption cases in courts.

Pursuing the Supreme Court-mandated cases, Sharif has been summoned by the accountability court on September 26 in three corruption references, filed against him and his children by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the country's anti-corruption watchdog.

GUJRAT: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President and former Prime Minister Ch Shujat Hussain has said that heinous conspiracy of Nawaz Sharif to undermine army and judiciary will fail. "We did not commit any corruption".

The PML-N leader further said Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan was a non-serious person, adding that there was no maturity in his politics.

According to family sources, Khawaja Haris would represent the former prime minister in the court.

Asif Kirmani said he felt sorrow for those who had been talking negatively about the return of Nawaz Sharif. "Not everyone can do that". "It's a FARCE (sic)".

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, who is also wanted in a NAB reference has been overseas for the past four weeks, is also returning to Islamabad from London.

The NAB court issued arrest warrants for Dar after he failed to appear before the court on September 20.

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif returned to Pakistan from London on Monday, a month after he went to the United Kingdom to be with his wife Kulsoom Nawaz, who is undergoing cancer treatment.
