Police responding to church shooting near Nashville

According to the Nashville Fire Department's twitter account, eight people were wounded, including the shooter.

The incident took place around 11 am at Burnett Chapel Church of Christ in Antioch, the Nashville Police told the media.

Nashville fire department spokesman Joseph Pleasant tells the Tennessean newspaper that six to eight people were being transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Police are responding to reports of shots fired at a church in Tennessee. "The majority are older adults", the fire department said in a statement.

This is a developing story and News 2 has multiple crews on the scene. No other details about that person or a possible motive have been released. The Church reportedly conducts its weekly services on 10 A.M. While the authorities were accessing the impact of the incident, the exact number of casualties were still not known.

The area around the church is shut down, while police continue their investigation.
