Mobile Will Pay for Your Netflix: Is It a Good Deal?

T-Mobile COO Mike Sievert discusses the company’s new Netflix partnership

The primary beneficiaries of this new friendship will be subscribers to T-Mobile's "One" unlimited data plans, many of whom will get access to Netflix for free, T-Mobile CEO John Legere said on an "Un-carrier Next" webcast video on Wednesday. The years-long series of disruptive actions most recently included the T-Mobile One subscription plan, which offers four lines with unlimited data, text and voice for $40 each per month, taxes and fees included. And, if you already have a Netflix subscription, T-Mobile will cover the cost of a standard subscription for you - meaning you'll save almost $120 every year.

"If you already have a Netflix subscription, T-Mobile will cover the cost of a standard subscription for you - meaning you'll save almost $120 every year", T-Mobile said. Customers with a "line-on-us" also qualify for the promotion. Netflix Standard allows the users to stream to up to two screens at once.

"The new frontier for carrier bundles is mobile video", the company says in its statement, pointing to AT&T (T -0.5%) and Verizon (VZ -0.3%) buying up content and cable companies.

T-Mobile is running an all-day contest on Twitter tomorrow with prizes to promote the new offering. The offer extends to existing Netflix subscribers as well as new customers who've been eying the streaming services.

T-Mobile is on the way to fetch as many customers as it can or maybe retain its customers so that they don't turn to other carriers.

T-Mobile customers will soon get access to shows like "The Defenders" for free. If you get this plan on Netflix, then it will cost you $9.99/month, so if you're a T-Mobile customer, then you can save around $120/year.
