Mi Notebook Pro Specifications and Features Announced

Xiaomi introduces Mi Notebook Pro with up to 8th gen Intel Core i7 processors

For now the Mi Notebook Pro, announced at an event in Beijing, is specific to China.

Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro is a direct competitor to MacBook Pro. This year the Chinese brand chose to take on the Apple MacBook Pro. Xiaomi has compared the ports to only 4 thunderbolt ports and a headphone jack of the MacBook Pro.

There's one color option available - dark gray, which looks pretty good. The dual 12MP rear cams can produce 2x optical zoom and bokeh effects, also sporting OIS, while the under-glass fingerprint sensor sounds way more exciting than it looks. The Mi Notebook Pro features an 8th generation Intel Core i7 quad-core processor claiming to be the first batch of notebooks in the world to do so. This is unlocked processor (although unlocked is not going to be all that useful in a laptop) and can run with turbo speed of up to 4GHz. The laptop has fans to maintain the temperature.

The laptop is featured latest gen of uniform cooling design which allows this machine to execute 40% more outbound air flow. Let's hope it doesn't make much noise. The new Mi Notebook Pro is packed with a 15.6 Inches display with narrow bezels. The screen is guarded by Gorilla Glass. It also has a large touchpad and a full-size keyboard. The laptop measures 360.7 x 243.6 x 15.9 mm and weighs 1.95kg. Each key is evenly spaced out and is also backlit.

The battery is a 60 Wh unit to which Xiaomi has added 1C quick charging enabling the device to be charged up to 50 percent in 35 minutes. The speakers sport Harman Infinity tag.

- Powered by Windows 10, although there might be some special software features that Xiaomi has cooked.

Xiaomi has introduced the Mi Notebook Pro in three variants - Intel Core i7 with 16GB RAM which is starting at CNY 6,999 (approximately Rs. 68,700), Intel Core i7 with 8GB RAM at CNY 6,399 (approximately Rs. 62,900), and Intel Core i5 with 8GB RAM at CNY 5,599 (approximately Rs. 55,000).

The top end variant of the laptop with Core i7 + 16GB RAM will sell for 6999 Yuan ($1076).

As noted earlier, there is no guarantee that Xiaomi will launch the Mi Notebook in India, although if it does chances are that it may find a number of takers.
