McCain: 'Decision to eliminate DACA is the wrong approach to immigration policy'

Local Members Of Congress Weigh In On Ending DACA

"Fyi, my father would not kick the dreamers out of the US.He would find a way to work with Congress and lead", Reagan tweeted Tuesday.

President Donald Trump just announced he will end the DACA program in six months.

Durbin was the initial chief Democratic sponsor of the DREAM Act in 2001, and once again called on his colleagues to join him in supporting a legislative measure to protect young undocumented immigrants. "In the coming months, Congress must address this issue".

Something these young people are hoping happens because none of them know how they would get by if they were forced to return to Mexico.

"The priorities remain the same: Criminal security threats and those who repeatedly violate our immigration laws", said White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, explaining the president's decision. "I do not favor punishing children, most of whom are now adults, for the actions of their parents", Trump said in his written statement. It is self-defeating - because they want to start new businesses, staff our labs, serve in our military, and otherwise contribute to the country we love. "It's not going to work".

Local immigrants and city leaders mobilized Tuesday in response to the President's decision to remove and repeal former President Obama's Executive Order on DACA (Deferred Action for Early Childhood Arrivals) put in place five years ago. "This is our home, and together is how we make this country great", Olga Burks said a few hours after hearing Sessions' announcement.

But now that it's happened, the Florida governor says it's time for Congress to act.

"Brown does not share information with law enforcement regarding the immigration status of undocumented or DACA status students, and we will not without a subpoena", Paxson said.

Part of Sessions' argument in favor of rescinding the program was economic; he said it had adversely impacted native born Americans " It also denied jobs to hundreds of thousands of Americans by allowing those same jobs to go to illegal aliens", he said.

The Trump Administration announced on Tuesday that the program will stop accepting new applications and will end altogether in March of next year.
