Mourinho was keen not to make a big deal about the injury, pointing to the replacements in midfield that United can call upon.

United, who missed out on qualification for Europe's premier club competition last season, coasted to a 3-0 victory on Tuesday, with goals for Marouane Fellaini, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford.

While Mourinho was still unsure about the extent of the France international's injury, the Portuguese tactician said Pogba could be missing for a few weeks.

"Squads are for this, squads are for injuries, squads are for suspensions".

"We are playing only with two midfield players, with (Nemanja) Matic and Pogba, which are playing really well and without reason to change".

"Now I'm going to leave the match for a while and then watch the replay to see if there's anything that I could have done better".

"Ashley Young was not on the bench in the last match and today he started the match and he played for 90 minutes, and the next match you can have another surprise of some player that you think is going to play and is not going to play". He is a player with special qualities and he gives me multiple areas of action.

Jose Mourinho believes Victor Lindelof can excel in the Premier League, particularly against ultra-defensive opponents.

"It's hard when you're in and out of the team, but we have to find the positives out of it and I think we have both done that", Rashford added. "I just know from experience it's a muscular injury".

"If his conditions are improved, he will be selected, I need him".

United manager Jose Mourinho commented afterwards: "I keep saying the same about Fellaini". They are all good players and I think it's easy to play with them all.
