JioPhone: Know When Booking Resumes, How To Register Your Interest

Given that millions have booked the device, it looks like there is a delay in the shipment of the device.

"Millions have pre-booked the JioPhone", Reliance Jio said on microblogging site Twitter. Reliance Jio aims to capture a 50-crore strong customer base using the 4G feature phone, which will be available from next month onwards.

The JioPhone pre-bookings debuted on August 24 and within a few minutes the same was halted temporarily as there was a huge demand that caused issues with the online booking process.

JioPhone pre-booking started on August 24 and the telecom operator has confirmed that the booking will start again, but no specified date has been fixed. Apart from the 6 million bookings, an additional 10 million people have registered interest in the device via the Keep Me Posted form on the company's site, Gadgets 360 has learned. Now adding up to the latest developments, a report by India Today states that the JioPhone deliveries that were scheduled to start from the first week of September have been delayed by a week.

"The bookings, and the expressions of interest, for JioPhone, were received from across the country with equal participation from metros, smaller towns and rural areas", revealed one of our close sources. As for data, the company has announced monthly, weekly, and 2-day unlimited data plans exclsuively for JioPhone users. Jio, being a 4G-only network, requires such a phone, after all.

Interested customers will continue to be able to register their interest and will be notified on a priority basis when the booking process resumes. It has to be noted that the Rs 1500 security deposit is refundable after three years on the return of the Jio device. As for specifications, JioPhone comes with an Alphanumeric keypad, a 2.4-inch QVGA display, and it runs KaiOS. The JioPhone is the smartest feature phone ever with some innovative features such as JioAssistant (voice assistant), KAI OS with apps such as JioChat, JioPlay, JioMusic, JioXpressNews, etc. The single-SIM (Nano SIM) feature phone comes in Black colour.

Reliance Jio JioPhone gets a 2MP camera on the back, along with a VGA front shooter. It supports voice commands in 22 Indian languages. The phone is backed by a 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
